Any Nick-at-Nite connoisseur can remember the 1960's sitcom "Get Smart" and its hilarious spoof of the Cold War era. The main character of the show was Maxwell Smart, secret agent "86" who was devoted to his cause of protecting America in the game of espionage.

Hopefully, Rick Pitino needs no introduction to the U of L community, but just in case, the U of L men's basketball coach has compiled a 118-48 record during his five years on the Cardinals' sideline. In 2005, Pitino led the Cards to their first NCAA Final Four in 19 years.

A Derby Classic

Apparently there is a new tradition in The Derby Classic. The opening introductions are almost as exciting as the game. If you are a Louisville recruit playing for the first time in Freedom Hall you must honor the bird.

T-Will's 32 point MVP performance at last years Derby Classic must have been running through Edgar Sosa's mind when he came out to center court.

Everyone needs the occasional fine dining experience, and in Louisville, an excellent option is Vincenzo's downtown. The dishes are all Italian, but luckily all dishes had an English explanation for those diners who forgot their Italian-English dictionary.

At this very moment go ahead and ask yourself who your favorite "one-hit wonder" is? I assure you it is ok to admit it, we all have our one song that we have loved since the seventh grade from an embarrassing artist. Some popular responses may very well be Marcy Playground, Chumbawumba, or maybe even Willa Ford.

Today the Louisville Patriot completes its third year (our second full year) in circulation as the alternative news source on the University of Louisville campus. The Patriot's inception caused plenty of controversy but then again the ideal it was founded upon always does.

I don't hate liberals.

I don't even want to shut them up.

Without their daily diarrhea of the mouth, my job writing opinion columns, first weekly for the Cardinal, and now for the Patriot, would have been much more difficult.

I have always seen the job of an opinion columnist as twofold: 1.

The ideological atmosphere on campus affects people in the University Community. I could not quite describe the affect until I read an opinion column in the Louisville Cardinal titled "Voting Is a White Privilege." That column discussed how assimilation into the "dominant culture" is a form of oppression.
